KL Rahul was recently recalled to the Test side for the Bangladesh series. The right-handed batter hasn’t been able to cement his place in the Test squad despite being talented. He will be preferred over Sarfaraz Khan in the first Test in Chennai on September 19.
Sarfaraz had a terrific start to his red-ball career, scoring 200 runs in three games against England earlier this year. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma is confident of KL Rahul’s success in the longest format.
“KL Rahul has done well since returning to the side. He scored a hundred against South Africa but was injured in the Hyderabad Test against England. I hope he continues from where he left off in Hyderabad.
“I don’t see any reason why he can’t perform in Test format. He will get opportunities and it is important for the batter how he wants to take his career forward,” Rohit Sharma said.
Yash Dayal was selected because of Mohammed Shami’s absence, and Akash Deep managed to retain his place.
The skipper asserted that with the bowling resources India have at the moment, the question of managing the workload of the seamers shouldn’t be a problem, and he is expecting a smooth process.
