Former all-rounder Yasir Arafat has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its officials for organizing a one-day tournament before the upcoming three-Test series against England in October. The Shan Masood-led team was defeated 0-2 by Bangladesh in the recently concluded red-ball series at home.
Despite the failures of the team in the five-day format and a big series against England coming up, the board has scheduled the Champions One Day Cup from September 12 to 29. The Tests against the visiting English team will start on October 7.
‘Your shortcomings have been exposed. The fitness is not upto the mark, and the players don’t have proper technique. The pitches are not helping, either. Jason Gillespie and the high-performance coach are heading back to Australia. I don’t understand these decisions. The PCB Cricket Board has become a circus, and the officials are jokers,” he said.a
“You have a Test series against England, and you are making the players compete in an ODI tournament. Shan Masood said that players haven’t been part of first-class cricket for 1.5 years. This is a circus to me, and the people who are working are jokers, and their calls are jokes,” he added.
Pakistan are 8th in the WTC standings at the moment. They haven’t won a Test at home since January 2021.
Pakistan have lost six of their 10 home Tests, with the four ending in draws. Shan Masood, who replaced Babar Azam as Test captain, is still looking for his maiden win as skipper in the most extended format.
