Rohit Sharma will be in focus when the Indian cricket team takes on Afghanistan in the first T20I in Mohali on January 11. The Indian captain is returning to the side after 14 months. He played the previous T20I in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. There was reports that Rohit and Virat Kohli would be phased out of the shortest format.
However, both were recalled for the T20I series against Afghanistan – the last competition for the Men in Blue ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Ahead of the series, former India pacer Praveen Kumar narrated an incident were fans abused Rohit in 2012.
“I don’t believe in fighting with anyone. I was with Rohit Sharma and Manoj Tiwary at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2012. There were a few Indian fans, who started abusing Rohit without any reason. I was our own fans who were targeting Rohit,” Praveen Kumar said on The Lallantop.
Praveen also lauded Virat Kohli during his interview. “Virat Kohli is a great guy. He knows how to score runs everywhere and also takes care of his diet and body,” he said.
Praveen called Gautam Gambhir his elder brother.
“He is my elder brother,” Praveen said.
