Washington Sundar is finally injury-free and is winning matches for India. He took two wickets and conceded just 2 runs in the Super Over in the third T20I against Sri Lanka. Suryakumar Yadav hit a four on the first delivery, and the Men in Blue clinched the series 3-0.
Sundar feels SKY’s leadership and risk-taking ability guided the visiting team to a thrilling victory in the last contest.
Sri Lanka required 12 runs off the last 12 balls with six wickets in hand, but Surya asked Rinku Singh to bowl the 19th over, and he dismissed two batters, giving away three runs. SKY bowled the last over of the chase and grabbed two scalps, leaving the hosts shocked. The game went to the Super Over, and the rest is history.
“He was amazing as captain. With 12 runs off 12 balls, he gave the ball to Rinku, and Rinku dismissed the dangerous Kusal Perera. Surya then bowled the last over and won the game for his team. He has a big heart when he bats, and he shows it in his leadership as well. He deserves all the credit,” he said.
“Surya kept telling us that two wickets in the middle overs would change the game and even a run-a-ball scenario can create pressure,” he added.
“I had no idea that I would bowl the Super Over. Surya told me that I was on. I was happy as it was a great opportunity to win the game for my country,” he concluded.
The all-rounder also scored 25 runs, playing an important role in the team’s win.
