Ram Navami is celebrated on the ninth day of Chaitra Navratri to mark the birth of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. This year, Ram Navami will be celebrated on April 17. It is one of the most significant festivals in India and is celebrated with grandeur throughout the country. On this occasion, let’s take a look at the five popular Ram Temples in India:
Ram Mandir, Ayodhya

As per Hindu mythology, it is believed that Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Ram. The Ram temple was inaugurated on January 22 after a Pran Pratishtha ceremony. The temple will mark its first-ever Ram Navami celebrations this year. It is expected to be a grand affair. The whole city will be lit up and processions will be organised.
Ram Raja Temple, Madhya Pradesh
Situated in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, the Ram Raja Temple follows the story of how the Queen of Orchha wanted to revere Lord Ram in the form of a boy.
As per the MP Tourism’s official website, this is “the only temple in the country where lord Rama is worshipped as the King and not as a deity.”
Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple, Telangana
The Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple is situated in Bhadrachalam, Bhadradri Kothagudem District, Telangana. It is believed that Lord Ram, Goddess Sita and Lord Lakshman stayed at Parnasala, 35 km away from Bhadrachalam.
Ramaswamy Temple, Tamil Nadu
The Ramaswamy Temple, located in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, was built during the period of Thanjavur Nayaks king Achuthappa Nayak (1560–1614) and completed during the reign of Raghunatha Nayak (1600–34).
As per Kerala Tourism’s official website, the temple is known as Dakshina (South) Ayodhya.
Ram Mandir, Bhubaneswar, Odisha
The temple, situated in Kharvela Nagar, was established in 1979. As per Odisha Tourism’s website, there are seven temples in total. On special occasions and festivals, devotees, in large numbers, make a bee line and offer prayers to the deity.
