Henley Passport Rankings 2025: India Slips, Pakistan Falls Behind Somalia And Bangladesh

India’s passport ranking slipped from 80th in 2024 to 85th in 2025, while Pakistan dropped to 103rd. This come behind Somalia at 102nd position and Bangladesh at 99th position

The ranking of the world’s most powerful passports has been released. According to the ‘Henley Passport Index’ released annually, Singapore’s passport claims the top spot as the world’s most powerful. This achievement is not new for Singapore, as it also held the number-one position last year. However, this time, Singapore stands alone at the summit. Last year, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain shared the top ranking.
The strength of a country’s passport is determined by how many countries its holders can visit without a visa or with a visa on arrival. Singapore boasts the most powerful passport globally, granting access to 195 countries visa-free.
Japan secures the second position, with its passport permitting entry to 193 countries. Sharing third place are Finland, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, and Spain, whose citizens enjoy visa-free travel to 192 countries. Closely following in fourth place are Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
Ranking of India and Pakistan
India’s passport ranking slipped from 80th in 2024 to 85th in 2025. Indian passport holders can visa-free travel to 62 countries, up from 57 in the previous year. Conversely, Pakistan’s ranking has fallen from 101st in 2024 to 103rd in 2025. Pakistani passport holders can access 34 countries without requiring a prior visa.
Countries with the Worst Ranking
When discussing the worst passport rankings, Afghanistan holds the 106th position. Syria follows closely at 105, Iraq at 104, and both Yemen and Pakistan at 103.
Pakistan’s passport ranking falls behind Somalia, Bangladesh, and North Korea. Somalia’s passport ranks 102nd, Nepal’s 101st, Libya’s 100th, while Bangladesh and North Korea share the 99th position. Notably, a North Korean passport grants visa-free access to 39 countries.
