Porsche Honors Jo Siffert With One-Off 911 GT3 RS

Porsche has introduced a one-off 911 GT3 RS that pays tribute to Swiss racing driver Jo Siffert.

Built in collaboration with Siffert’s family, the car draws inspiration from the 917 that Jo and Kurt Ahrens drove to victory at the Österreichring in 1969. As a result, it features a two-tone design that combines Pure White with Viper Green accents.

Besides the special paint, the car is equipped with “29” badging on the hood, doors, and wing. They’re joined by “Porsche” lettering and special satin black magnesium wheels that have center locks with the silhouette of the 917KH.

Interestingly, Porsche enlisted the help of Bosch and Shell to reproduce “contemporary sponsor decals.” Designers also installed B-pillar badges with Jo Siffert’s signature.

Porsche didn’t release many interior pictures, but confirmed the car has Black and Guards Red Race-Tex upholstery with a helmet motif on the headrests. The model also has special door sill plates and Siffert’s signature embossed on the center console cover. The automaker went on to say “even the vehicle key has been painstakingly customized” as it features a Pure White and Viper Green paint job as well as a 917 graphic.

The car will be displayed at dealerships across the country and will eventually be shown at Auto Zürich in November. Following the end of its tour, the model will be sold to a lucky customer who will be “selected at random.”

While Siffert died in 1971, Porsche said he “continues to enjoy cult status in Switzerland” thanks to a distinguished career that saw him compete in 298 races over 11 years. The company said he liked racing so much that he would occasionally compete in several races the same weekend.
