New Genesis GV80 Coupe Costs Thousands More Than The BMW X6

Genesis introduced the GV80 Coupe last fall and now we’re learning how much it will cost. While there was little doubt it would be more expensive than the regular model, it starts at $79,950.

That’s $21,250 more than the standard GV80 and $5,450 more than the BMW X6. However, it undercuts the Mercedes GLE Coupe as the company only offers AMG variants in America and those start at $89,800.

While the high price tag will likely cause some sticker shock, there’s a good reason for the premium pricing as the model comes in two well-equipped trims. The GV80 Coupe also eschews the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that is found on entry-level versions of the regular model.

Without further ado, the GV80 Coupe features a slick design that incorporates LED lighting units, a panoramic glass roof, and 20-inch alloy wheels. Buyers will also find a dual exhaust system, a hands-free power liftgate, and power-folding side mirrors with puddle lamps that project the Genesis logo onto the ground.

The interior is the place to be as it features a 27-inch OLED display, a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system, and matte wood trim. They’re joined by Nappa leather seats that feature power adjustment as well as heating and ventilation in both rows.

That’s just scratching the surface as the crossover coupe sports a heated steering wheel, a heated front armrest, and a microfiber suede headliner. Other highlights include a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, and a tri-zone climate control system. A twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 resides under the hood, where it produces 375 hp (280 kW / 380 PS) and 391 lb-ft (530 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system. The crossover also has an electronic limited slip differential and an electronically controlled suspension with road preview technology.

Customers looking for more performance can upgrade to the GV80 3.5 e-Supercharger Coupe AWD, which begins at $85,750. As the name suggests, it throws a 48V electric supercharger into the mix and this increases the output to 409 hp (305 kW / 415 PS) and 405 lb-ft (548 Nm) of torque.

Besides being more powerful, the range-topping variant has larger 22-inch wheels and black brake calipers. They’re joined by a four-tailpipe exhaust system, carbon fiber trim, and alloy pedals.
